Cookie Policy
What Saffron and Sage's website stores in your browser, and why. Last updated 7 August 2026.
The short version
This site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies — nothing here follows you around the internet. It stores a small number of essential items so the site works, counts visits anonymously only if you say yes, and blocks third-party content until you choose to load it.
Cookies and similar technologies
"Cookies" here covers the family of small items a website can keep in your browser: cookies proper, local storage (which stays until cleared) and session storage (which disappears when the tab closes). This site mainly uses the latter two.
Everything this site stores, in full
There is no hidden list. This is all of it:
| What | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
ts_consent | Local storage | Remembers your answer to the cookie notice so it is not shown on every page. Value is only yes or no. | Until you clear it or use the button below |
ts_sid | Local storage | A random string used to count a visit once rather than on every page. Written only if you choose Accept. Contains no name, email or device detail and is never joined to a booking or order. | Until you clear it or use the button below |
| Basket & form state | Session storage | Keeps your order basket and dismissed notices while you browse. | Deleted when you close the tab |
ts_menu_locale | Cookie (first-party) | On a site with a second menu language, remembers which language you chose for the menu so every page stays in it. Set when you pick a language, or on your first visit from your browser's language setting. Holds only a language code. | Until you close your browser (session cookie) |
| Provider cookies | Third-party | Set by Google Maps, YouTube/Vimeo or Stripe under their own policies — and only from the moment you load that content or reach checkout. | Set by that provider |
Strictly necessary storage
These are essential — the site cannot work without them, so the law allows them to be set without asking:
Your cookie choice — once you answer the notice, the answer itself is kept in local storage so we do not ask again on every page. It stays until you clear your browsing data, or use the Change or withdraw button further down this page.
Order and form state — things like your order basket and a dismissed announcement live in session storage and vanish when you close the tab.
Menu language — on a site with a second menu language, a first-party session cookie (<code>ts_menu_locale</code>) keeps the language you chose so the menu does not switch back on every page. It holds only a language code and goes when you close your browser.
Nothing in this category identifies you personally.
Anonymous visit counting
Only if you choose Accept on the notice, the site counts visits using a random identifier kept in your browser. It contains no name, email or anything else about you, and it is never joined to your bookings or orders — it lets the restaurant see "how many people visited this week", nothing more. If you dismiss or decline the notice, no counting happens at all.
There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no fingerprinting on this site.
Third-party content
Some things on the site come from other companies — an embedded map, a video, and the Stripe payment form at checkout. These are blocked by default: the item shows a Load button (or loads after you accept the notice), and only from that moment can its provider — for example Google, YouTube, Vimeo or Stripe — set its own cookies under its own policy.
Stripe's items are part of taking a secure card payment; they appear only during checkout and are governed by Stripe's cookie policy.
Your choices, and changing your mind
On this site — answer the notice however you like; everything except anonymous counting and embedded content works identically either way. Declining costs you nothing.
Withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it, so the button below does it in one click: it deletes your stored answer and the counting identifier, stops counting straight away, and brings the notice back so you can choose again.
Other ways to control this
In your browser — every modern browser can block or delete cookies and site data, per site or wholesale. Blocking essential storage may stop the basket and booking forms working properly.
Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control — because nothing here advertises or tracks you across sites, there is no cross-site profile for such a signal to switch off. Counting stays off until you actively accept, whatever your browser sends.
Third-party content you have loaded — once you load a map or a video, that provider's own cookies are governed by its policy, and are cleared through your browser or that provider's own controls.
Changes and questions
If what this site stores ever changes, this page and the date at the top change with it.
